Conveyors are the work horses of the material handling world. These systems allow quick and efficient transportation of objects from one location to another within the same area. They are a very popular solution in applications involving production lines, packaging, ecommerce fulfilment, and virtually any operation that requires displacement of objects. They can be installed almost anywhere and different types are available according to the needs of the operation.
Gravity conveyor is used to transport product on a level push line or a pitched gravity flow line.
Gravity conveyor consists of two types, “wheel” or “roller”. Wheel conveyor is constructed of a series of wheels mounted on a common axle supported in a channel frame. Roller conveyor is constructed of metal tubes with bearings in each end and mounted on an axle supported in a channel frame.
Push lines require manual assistance to move the product along, where the slope is adjusted on pitched lines, allowing the natural force of gravity to move the product along, so that little or no assistance is required.
Atlantic Rack gravity conveyors are available in a wide variety of sizes and materials, including steel for permanent installations and aluminum when portability is a requirement. Multiple standard widths, and lengths available manufactured “to the inch” provide flexibility for almost any situation. Because of their low cost and ease of installation, gravity conveyors are much more economical than other types of conveyor.
Are typically used to transport boxes and totes. Also known as live roller conveyors use a belt to turn the rollers. Powered conveyors move boxes and cartons between floors. Power conveyors are suitable for catwalk and mezzanine applications.
