Project Scope

JAS Worldwide, a global leader in logistics and freight forwarding, embarked on a project to optimize their newly acquired 180,000 square foot warehouse in Miami, FL. Facing increasing logistical demands, they required an efficient storage solution and a safe, climate-controlled loading dock setup. They partnered with Atlantic Rack, a renowned material handling solutions company, to design and implement a comprehensive warehouse layout.

Objectives

In this case study, we delve into a comprehensive warehouse project aimed at transforming the facility into a highly efficient and climate-controlled environment. We designed and installed selective pallet racks that optimized vertical space and provided easy access to each pallet. This system allowed JAS Worldwide to store a larger quantity of goods while maintaining efficient retrieval processes. The layout was customized to meet the specific inventory and workflow needs of JAS Worldwide, ensuring a streamlined operation.

The project aimed to ensure that the warehouse can accommodate a larger volume of products while maintaining an orderly and safe environment. Warehouse Layout Design

The selective pallet racking system was configured to maximize vertical space utilization, thereby increasing the overall storage capacity. Custom Configuration

The racking was setup with different heights to store pallets, boxes and other goods, allowing a well organized layout design.

Dock Design for Climate-Controlled Environment

To prevent the loss of air conditioning, Atlantic Rack recommended JAS Worldwide the implementation of high-quality dock seals and shelters that would create a tight barrier between the docks and the truck trailers. This solution would play a crucial role in maintaining a stable temperature within the warehouse. These protective barriers seal the gaps between the loading dock and the trucks, preventing the escape of conditioned air and the infiltration of outdoor air. By minimizing the exchange of air, they help to keep the warehouse cool during the summer and warm during the winter, enhancing energy efficiency. Dock Safety
