Martinez Distributors is a family owned business that started operations back in 1997 in Hialeah, Florida. They specialize in distribution of quality food products to restaurants, hotels, markets, and cafeterias among others, and currently have 3 stores located throughout the Miami area where they sell to the public in wholesale quantities.

The Company is also a food processor company with a USDA inspected plant capable of producing 20,000 lbs. of  top quality products daily. Due to the rising demand from customers, they offer private product labeling.

Martinez raises the bar on product quality, customer service and sanitation. They’re always about supplying customers with more product diversity, and better options, as they continuously invest on finding ways to improve productivity and maintain accessible prices.

Project Scope

Martinez has been achieving a constant high annual growth rate over the last years. They have become one of the top-selling wholesale supermarket of meats, seafood and dairy products in the Miami Area and are currently facing an expansion stage. Martinez has been a long time customer of Atlantic Rack and this time they contacted us specifically for their new Kendall location supermarket: Casa Martinez Kendall.

The new Supermarket / Distribution Center is divided into two areas: The supermarket area exposed for customers and the warehouse freezer in the back for meat storage and refilling purposes. Atlantic Rack was contacted specifically to provide the storage applications for these two sections of the store.

Martinez objectives with these two spaces had specific requirements that needed to be taken into account before we proposed any storage solutions.

For the supermarket area, the space was intended for customers, the solution had to have a reachable height for customers to pick the products and refilling had to be easy for employees. Since Martinez is a wholesale supermarket, the product was going to be exposed in small boxes.

The solution provided for these area was installing 6 foot tall back-to-back selective pallet racks with two levels plus floor. The floor and 3rd levels would have the capacity to fit full pallets of products in boxes and the 2nd level was intended to place individual product reachable by hand for customers.

For the cooler and freezer areas we had a height limitation because it was an in-plant office installed inside the warehouse. For this section we decided to go with the same racking layout but added another row of 7 foot racking to add another level and maximize storage space.
