With multiple dock doors at their Miami facility for handling high-volume shipments daily, maintaining a safe and secure loading operation is a top priority for the company.

With multiple dock doors in constant use, Mobis Parts Miami faced a serious safety risk during loading and unloading operations. The warehouse’s air-conditioned structure prevented clear visibility of docked trucks, increasing the potential for miscommunication between workers and drivers. Without a proper restraint system, a truck could pull away too soon, leaving employees stranded or injured inside the trailer.

Beyond safety, there was also another security concern. Containers frequently remained at the docks overnight for loading and next-day shipments, making them vulnerable to unauthorized removal or theft. A solution was needed to physically secure trailers, preventing unexpected movement while ensuring smooth communication between warehouse staff and truck drivers.

Proposed Solution

To address Mobis’ safety and security concerns at their warehouse docks, Atlantic Rack intervened by installing Truck Restraint Systems with Dock Lighting at each dock door. This solution locks the trailer’s rear impact guard (RIG) in place, preventing accidental or premature departures. The restraint system is engineered for high-volume dock operations, ensuring that trucks remain stationary throughout the loading and unloading process, preventing accidents from happening.

To enhance driver and worker communication, a red/green dock lighting system was integrated alongside the restraints. When a truck is secured, a red light “x” signals the driver to remain parked, eliminating any risk of confusion or miscommunication.

Beyond preventing drive-offs, the truck restraints serve an additional security function.
